History

Pianos Carlier was founded in 1945 by René Carlier. During his life he built up a varied musical career as: pianist, composer and conductor in various big bands. He performed in the Benelux and Germany. René Carlier acquired a rich experience in repairing and tuning pianos ranging from older upright pianos to concert grands.

Later in life he devoted himself to teaching piano lessons. When more and more students asked him for piano advice he decided together with his daughter, Denise Carlier, to set up a piano shop.

Initially they started in Aalst. Here they sold mostly pianos for beginners. Novice piano players can find at Pianos Carlier a piano starting from 1200 euros.

In 1985, Denise moved together with her life partner, John van Wesemael, the shop to Erpe, Leedse Steenweg 96. The shop quickly expanded. New pianos for beginners, advanced and professionals, a private workshop for repairing and renovating pianos, own transport department and piano tuners. At this moment the shop in Erpe serves as a repair workshop.

Denise's two sons, Dimitri and Steve are trained in piano tuning and repair. A lot of the after-sales service is performed by them. During their training they enjoyed the experience of their grandfather, and piano technicians working in the workshop. Also an internship at Pleyel. Since seven years Steve gets more sophisticated training at the reputable piano brand C. Bechstein. This is in Germany (Berlin - Tübingen - Seifhennersdorf).

The success of our professional service and experience was the next step to  expand Pianos Carlier again. The shop in Brussels  opened in 1989 (Ganshoren, Charles Avenue). This was the base for cooperation with C. Bechstein Berlin. Soon the shop in Ganshoren was too small and around 2002 Pianos Carlier moved again, where you can find us today:

Bechstein, Pianos Carlier still expands ... both pianos for beginners, advanced and professionals, ranging from the second hand upright pianos, the "middle class" to new grand pianos. Also renovations of reputable brands as Bechstein, Steinway & Sons, Bösendorfer, Pleyel, repairs, renovations, large and small tunings, furniture refresh, ...
